Sure Gun Control Laws Work

Date: 01 February, 2006

Imagend if you believe that one — I have some prize swamp land in New Orleans to sell you. Cheap.

While the gun grabbers have been hard at work over the past couple of decades attempting to disarm the world a new United Nations study on violence has just been released. The findings? Oh, you are going to love this one. The countries which have either extremely strict gun control laws or where guns are basically banned — have the highest incidents of violence. Gee, ya suppose? Maroons.

"A UNITED Nations report has labeled Scotland the most violent country in the developed world, with people three times more likely to be assaulted than in America (quoting Timesonline UK).

"England and Wales recorded the second highest number of violent assaults while Northern Ireland recorded the fewest" (quoting Timesonline UK).

Gun control

England and associated countries have some of the toughest gun control laws and gun bans in the world. Yet, for some unknown reason, Scotland, Wales and England have the highest rate of violent crime in "the developed world." No kidding Sherlock, what was your first clue?

Indeed, in those three countries the citizenry are basically disarmed. Do you think the bad guys know this? I sure as shootin' (pun intended) would think so. Hence, being it is a fair assessment that the bad guys know their fellow countrymen are completely defenseless, guns being outlawed for citizen safety don't you know, the bad guys can at their leisure pick and choose who their next victim shall be. Apparently the thugs within the UK do just that with great regularity.

It just goes to show, as in proof positive, that guns do not cause violence — people do.

Also contained in the same story is this little gem:

"David Ritchie, an accident and emergency consultant at Glasgow's Victoria Infirmary, said that the figures were a national disgrace. 'I am embarrassed as a Scot that we are seeing this level of violence. Politicians must do something about this problem. This is a serious public health issue. Violence is a cancer in this part of the world', he said" (quoting Timesonline UK).

Did you catch it? The part about "[p]oliticians must do something about this problem." Yeah, that part.

How in the world are politicians going to fix the problem? Just explain to me, Mr. David Ritchie, exactly how a politician is going to prevent some slimebag thug from robbing and then beating the living crap out of you? The answer, obviously, is they cannot. There is no possible way to legislate morality. Period. Furthermore, it was the citizens of England, Wales and Scotland that went whining and crying to their particular breed of politicians that got them into the current mess they are now crying about to begin with.

Guns are bad. Guns are dangerous. Outlaw guns. That will surely stop the violence the whiners shrilled. And the politicians did exactly what the whiners asked them to do. They outlawed guns. Funny thing is — outlawing guns did not stop the violence. Not one little bit. In fact, according to the story, the exact opposite is true. The study, by the UN's crime research institute, found that 3 per cent of Scots had been victims of assault compared with 1.2 per cent in America and just 0.1 per cent in Japan, 0.2 per cent in Italy and 0.8 per cent in Austria. In England and Wales the figure was 2.8 per cent.

"Violent crime has doubled in Scotland over the past 20 years and levels, per head of population, are now comparable with cities such as Rio de Janeiro, Johannesburg and Tbilisi" (quoting Timesonline UK).

Please attend to the mere fact that the violence within England, Wales and Scotland has increased since guns have become — persona non grata. Gee, I just can't understand why! Sheesh.

Another thing I find absolutely amusing is that the gun grabbers have been virtually silent on this latest study of violence in the world. For that matter, so have the politicians. Imagine that. Slime balls.

It is a simple fact that if people are unable to defend themselves and their property there will always be somebody who wants what people have. More importantly, the have nots, if you will, are more than willing to use violence to gain what they seek. It is as simple as that.

Additionally, it really does not matter what one person has. If another person wants what the other has badly enough the one will come up with a way to take what the other has. Therefore, while we cannot prevent violence from occurring, we can reduce it.

How can we reduce violent crime you may ask? Again, the answer is simple. Arm the citizen.

An armed society is a polite society

Criminals are nothing more than bullys with a gun, a knife, a baseball bat or a brick in their paws. Criminals most certainly tend to prey on those they consider to be a weak and easy target. A woman walking alone on a sidewalk at night may end up being a rapist's next target. At the same time, if said woman has a .45 tucked away within quick reach, the rapist maybe the woman's next instant vasectomy patient.

Weapons are a great equalizer, like them or not. Weapons also tend to make bullys go find another target that appears to be unarmed. The sheer beauty of an armed citizenry carrying concealed weapons is that sooner or later, probably later as bullys are not the sharpest knives in the drawer, once enough dead bodies of bullys pile up in the morgue, the bullys will have to:

Anyway that you slice it the armed citizenry comes out of the whole ordeal smelling like roses. Winners — not whiners. In addition, by having an armed citizenry, the violent crime rate will decrease. If for no other reason than the would be thugs, bullys and other assorted cretins will be dead and buried. If the perpetrator is killed in action there is no possible way for the now very dead thug to become a repeat offender. I like that. Furthermore, the court costs and associated costs for locking up some dirtball disappear because Joe Dirtball has taken up permanent residence in a one room coffin six feet underground.

Here in this country we have far too many gun control laws. Though they are not nearly as severe as those within the UK, we still have too many. Nonetheless our citizens can still keep and bear arms, for the most part. And the study brings out, in living color no less, the results — lower incidence of violent crime with an armed citizenry. Hey all you gun grabbers, put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Guns — don't leave home without one.
